Dear Parents and Families:
Reading is the most
important skill you can teach a child. Of all the skills children learn, it is
the one you can influence the most. We invite you to visit our Scholastic
Book Fair and experience a celebration of reading that provides families the
opportunity to get involved in a universal mission: encouraging kids to read
every day so they can lead better lives.
Our
Scholastic Book Fair theme - Book Fair Fiesta: ¡Yo Quiero Libros! ¡Vamos a
Leer! (I Want Books! Let's Go Read!), surrounds students with hundreds of
fun and engaging books. The Book Fair gives kids access to good books and the
opportunity to choose their own books. Like most acquired skills, the more kids
practice reading, the more skilled reader they’ll be.
Please
take a look at the flyer with your child and make selections that are “just
right” for them. It is always helpful when students arrive at the Book
Fair with book selections already in mind. However, there will be many
other book choices that are not included on the flyer. Additionally, if
you do not want your child to purchase novelty items (pencils, pens, pencil
sharpeners, etc.) please send a note so we can follow your instructions. Please
note that the Minecraft Essential Handbook is on backorder. Students
are still welcome to purchase the book. Ask your child’s teacher for an order
form. Students that order the book during the fair will receive a free
Minecraft Poster.
Students will attend
the Book Fair during their “Specials” time. PE students come at the
beginning of their “Specials” time and all the other “Specials” classes come
during the last 20 minutes of class. Parents are welcome to attend
the Book Fair with their child!
